Foam Thickness Measurement
Traditional thickness measurement is preformed on a sample of a foam sheet on a surface table using a mechanical probe per ISO 1923 or ASTM D3574. RangeMetrics offers real-time in-process measurement using non-contacting distance sensors. These systems can be used on loopers, slitters and rebond lines.
The thickness measurement system includes an environmentally-sealed control enclosure with a PC to collect and process data from all 4 triangulation heads and a touch screen display monitor to control system and display instantaneous data. An Ethernet connection can be used for transfer of job file and dimensional data to and from the plant network
The system generates a continuous thickness measurement at each edge of the foam sheet with readings updated at least 50 times/second. Thickness measurement resolution of better than 0.001” can be obtained.
The control computer produces a thickness record for each sheet roll. The record can be tagged to a roll ID # provided via the plant network connection or from a barcode reader.
